About HEIC files
HEIC is the default photo format on iPhone. Many Windows apps, websites and printers still cannot open it, so converting to JPG or PNG makes the photo usable everywhere.
What is HEIC?
HEIC is the photo format that iPhones and many recent phones use by default. It stores the same picture in roughly half the space of a JPG, which is why phones use it. The catch is compatibility: many Windows programs, older Android versions, web forms, print shops and email tools still do not accept HEIC files.
When you should convert HEIC to JPG
- You are uploading photos to a website or form that rejects HEIC.
- You are sharing photos with people on Windows or older devices.
- You want to edit the photos in a program without HEIC support.
- You are sending photos to a print shop.
How this converter treats your photos
Your HEIC photos are decoded in your browser and saved as JPG at the quality you choose. The default of 90 percent keeps photos looking the same at a much smaller size than PNG.
Location and camera details (EXIF) are not copied into the new file, which is useful when you want to share a photo without revealing where it was taken. If you need that information, keep the original HEIC as well.
Tips for large batches
- Select several photos at once to convert them in one go.
- Large photos use a lot of memory. If your phone slows down, convert in smaller batches.
- For a Live Photo, only the still image is converted.
Questions

- Are my images uploaded to a server?

- Will converting HEIC to JPG reduce quality?
- JPG is a lossy format. Keep the quality slider high (85 to 95 percent) to preserve detail.
- Is HEIC better than JPG?
- HEIC usually gives smaller files at similar quality, but JPG works almost everywhere. Convert only when you need the compatibility.
- Can I convert HEIC to PNG instead?
