Frequently asked questions

How much can I reduce the size?

Large phone photos often shrink by 60-90%. Setting a maximum width of 1600 px is a quick way to cut size further.

Why did my PNG barely shrink?

PNG is lossless. To shrink PNGs a lot, set a maximum width or convert them to JPG or WebP.

What if the result is bigger?

If compression cannot make the file smaller, Kitly keeps your original so you never get a worse result.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Kitly runs entirely in your browser. Your files are opened and processed on your own device and are never sent to us or anyone else. You can even turn off your internet connection after the page has loaded and the tool will keep working.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

Kitly web tools are free to use with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. For heavy daily use, the Kitly Android app brings the same tools to your phone.
